[help] Socket forbidden access??
« on: June 23, 2015, 09:47:28 AM »
Hey Guys,

This is the first time i have come across an issue on UTB.

I will attach pictures that show whats happening. Every time I open UTB it comes up with a socket denied permission screen and a load of errors. This then closes UTB straight after. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. But still did not work.

Hope you guys can help!

Thanks,

Reece

I am still able to successfully connect using 2.0. I tried connecting using irc.twitch.tv and I tried using the IP you listed in the screenshot. Both of them worked just fine. This leads me to believe that something has changed on your computer or in your network that is either blocking access to IRC or otherwise causing problems. I would investigate this avenue and report back if needed.

UTB has been known to conflict with other IRC application like Hexchat or other IRC bots you may be running. If you've recently installed, changed, or updated a Firewall or Internet Security suite. If you're running from a commercial network or from a school network where they manage a physical firewall they maybe have changed something. Try to think of anything that maybe have changed or been installed since the problem started.

You could try to changing irc.twitch.tv to one of the actually IPs. Try replacing irc.twitch.tv with 192.16.64.144.

Still getting exactly the same pop ups and errors. I know its  not conflicting with the network as i tried using it on a home network and the same thing came up.

So you've tried this on two different computers on two different networks?
Can you open a command prompt and type telnet irc.twitch.tv 6667
If it connects you will be presented with a blank screen with blinking cursor.

Doesn't come installed on some version of windows. Installing it should be very simple.
https://www.google.com/search?q=install+telnet

This will tell us if it's UTB related or computer/network related, hopefully.

Then that proves it. It's not UTB related. Something else is blocking your access to Twitch's IRC servers. You might try some other IRC servers to see if it's just Twitch or any IRC server. Here are a few popular ones on port 6667:
card.freenode.net
irc.choopa.net

Doesnt let me connect via those irc servers either, it seems it doesnt like the port 6667. any idea on how to lift this.. i believe this is relating to the system exception errors i get afterwards.

The exception error is only being thrown because the bot could not communicate with Twitch IRC. This is not a UTB related issue, nothing I can do to fix this except offer suggestions.
You need to speak with whoever manages your network, or you may need to contact your internet provider and see if they've started blocking any traffic on that 6667 port, if they haven't then that points to something on your internal network or computer.

I installed Ultimate Twitch Bot last night and I am receiving this error trying to run Ultimate Twitch Bot and HexChat: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.

I read the entire thread and tested my system with telnet using the following: telnet irc.twitch.tv 6667. Telnet came back with a blank screen and blinking cursor. I also typed in netstat -an and there are no connections to address port 6667 on my system. I only have one server in my HexChat server list as I removed all the other servers since I don't need them.

I can close HexChat and Ultimate Twitch Bot works fine. If I have it open, Ultimate Twitch Bot will give me the "Only one usage" error and I have to close the program. I have also verified that Norton's is not blocking anything related to Twitch Bot. I really need HexChat open all the time so closing it to stream is not a good option for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you're using 2.0? I just tested hexchat with 3.0 and was able to connect to the same channel on both.

Thanks for the reply. I tried the Alpha 3.0 yesterday and couldn't use it. It did not recognize any keyboard inputs at all. I tried typing my Twitch name, etc and the cursor didn't move at all like it didn't see my keyboard. This happened in any field I tried. I went back to the 2.0 Twitch Bot after several attempts to get 3.0 Alpha to work. What version of HexChat are you using? I am using 2.10.2. I saw where 3.0 is now Beta and updated so I can try that one. Not sure why the Alpha wouldn't recognize any keyboard inputs at all but nothing worked. Version 2.0 works fine as long as HexChat is closed. Will update after I try the new Beta.
